Mystery Solved....

"Hun, the VCR doesn't work anymore. Mind if I just give it to Alex, the super mechanically-savvy, inventive 8-year-old in the neighborhood to tinker around with?"

This was uttered by me back in August. I finally got around to dropping it off at the whiz-kids house yesterday.

Umm.....genius here. Maybe this could be the problem?!?!?!

Hmmmm....Yes, a remote, loose change and that darn missing Alaska/Hawaiian piece of the US puzzle would make it difficult for a video tape to be properly viewed with these jammed into that small little space. WHAT THE!?!?

The funny thing is, you would have thought that maybe I'd have clued into this favored hiding spot of Tink's about a month ago. After scouring the house for 20 minutes (yes my house is that small...) in search of my keys, giving up and jumping on my bike (okay, more like huffing & puffing up the hill w/ two totally flat tires & deciding to ditch the bike at the corner) to go and get a slightly sad, worried 2nd grader from school. Upon walking in the door, the search continued, until the Hero of the Day 5-year-old decided to slip his fingers in the VCR opening and miraculously discovered that my keys had been "safely" stowed there.

Now we know how these things have, one by one, mysteriously disappeared. Thank you Alex, and an extra special thanks to Tink!

In other note-worthy news, this nice big brother officially turned 5 1/2.

He requested to celebrate with a tortilla cake. OOOOO-kay, time to get a little creative here. So, he got a 4-layered cinnamon & sugar "tortilla cake" to commemorate the big day. Love each of these kids and the silliness they add to my life.

I am lol. I did find a DVD in the VCR one day when I couldn't get the tape in. One day I want to play back my life and find a few other things I've lost my bet is on the kids!

Hilarious--all that loot in the ol' VCR. :)

And I love the fact that you celebrate the 1/2 birthdays. I remember one post you did about a half of a birthday cake. I so want to do that too! Basically I just want to be you. :)

Hahaha! Oh my stars! That is so funny! So is it up and running now? Or did Alex get to keep it for his incredible tinkering abilities? P.S. A very Merry unbirthday to Ty-guy!

Way, way to funny. I absolutely love Tyler. He cracks me up. Even with the things he says on the short drive home. Brooke seriously needs to hook up with this kid when he gets older so I can be officially part of your family. Isn't arranged marriage still accepted?

It's our dvd that is broken, but not sure what could be shoved in there but i will check.

Glad to know you're still in the dinosaur ages with me and my VCR. I don't think that little fart could fit much in a DVD player, do you?

Hilarious!
If anyone could fix it, it would be Alex. I just saw him the other day, and couldn't believe how grown-up he is.
You kids are so cute. I love seeing pictures of them around that kitchen nook. Now that you've finished that downstairs bedroom, I'm going to need a tour. It might be somewhat emotional for me, so I will bring some kleenex. I sure do miss that place, and take such comfort knowing you guys are there.
