15 months later...

Okay, so we've lived here for over a year now, and we FINALLY finished Ash's room. We pulled off all the panelling, then had electrician's update the room, plumbing issues fixed while the pipes were exposed, then finished off the checklist of drywall, paint, finish-work, installing the light fixtures, & new carpet. And as of this weekend--received some mattresses, purchased furniture, bedding and knick-knacks, and VOILA! Ash has her own room for pretty much the first time in her life. (Seriously--we were spineless parents and would let her sleep in our room with us when she was a baby. I remember sincerely missing her when I tried to put her in her crib and realizing that I wasn't going to see her for an entire night. Or Casey would hear her crying and say things like "She thinks we don't love her! I've got to go rescue her!" Rookies, I tell ya! How's that for a tangent....)
She's thrilled beyond words!! The only person that was less than thrilled was Ty, who after we had family prayers in her new room and told everyone to hop into their beds, looked up at me with tears welling in his eyes said, "But that means I'LL be all alone." I wondered if he'd be sad, and boy was this kid bummed.

Lucky little duck has a nice sister that pulled out the trundle and let him join in on her party. And even though they've been sharing a room all of Ty's existence, there was something special about the fact that they chose it tonight.
Now, on to the next of a million projects, that will only take a few hundred years to finish!!

That's so sweet. What a nice big sister to let her little bro share her new room. You've taught them well! That really warmed my heart.

Oh I just love those two little cuties! Way to finish a great project and what a great way to break in the new room with love.

I can't wait to see it in person! I'm sure if Ashlyn has anything to do with it, it will always be tidy & organized! :) Love that girl!

What a sweet room--and sweet kids too! My girls all love sleeping together even though they have their own rooms. There is something comforting about sleeping together!

Oh my word. That is so precious! Her room looks great and I love that she let Ty-guy test out that trundle. I totally have the cutest nieces and nephews on the planet.

i have four kids sleeping in two rooms... the oldest and the baby, and then the twins.. we tried once to seperate the twins... put Sam in with the boys, and let Lucy have her own girly room. She would have nothing of it... we would find her curled up at the foot of her brother's bed every single night. It made me happy they love each other so much, they don't like being apart! Now... I will say the oldest really HATES sharing a room with the baby... But, with so many boys around it's gonna be a while before he's all alone!

You got the Costco furniture. I've been debating it for my daughter's room. We are going to have to put both the girls in one room when the babies are born, and it is such a small room that I've been trying to talk my husband into a trundle bed instead of bunk beds. Not to mention it is a lot cheaper. I really do love the bookcase and everything. It turned out so adorable!

We were rookie parents with the first one too. We had a "bed" in every room of the house so I was never without him. We've become a lot tougher (and wiser).

PRECIOUS! Do you think my girls will ever CHOOSE to sleep by each other? Congrats on finishing the room!

I love the room! So excited to play in there with the kiddos. I am sure Ashlyn is in heaven! Hey lets be honest...if there are two places to sleep- Russell and I would still have sleepovers. Nothing wrong with that! I mean come on....check me out. hahah

Such a darling room! She is such a sweet girl, just like her mom! Never ending home projects...I know how you feel!

Oh, the memories!! Remember sitting outside of U Gardens trying not to listen to them cry!! It brings tears to my eyes, seriously! You guys coming down and us going up, not so hard to listen to another's cry!

We too are Rookies...We have a much bigger house and all of my children CHOOSE to stay in the same room, I am just REALLY glad it is big. We tried putting Logan by himself, but he wouldn't have it! The room was never used, needless to say I now have a extra one for toys! Oh, missing you guys tons!
Congrats, the room looks great, but of course it does, it's YOU!

Thats how you know you have good kids....they love each other. That is so cool. Great room, I don't do good with home projects. I have wanted to paint the inside of our home for 3 years and still haven't had the courage.

Her room turned out beautiful. I love that they still wanted to be together. Our girls have seperate rooms, but ask to have a "sleepover" with each other at least 3 nights a week.

Are the projects ever done?

Cute furniture. And sweet kids...you can hold that photo over their heads someday when they refuse to get along. And are the projects ever done? Eight months in our house and I still have a giant punch list of things to be finished. Perils of living with your contractor, eh.

I love the furniture. You have a great decorating sense. We need to come over again and have the girls play.

What a cute room! Congrats on finally finishing, I know how rewarding that can feel. And what a sweeting to let her brother sleep with her. BTW it looks like you guys had a great time in New York! And congrats on 10 years, can you believe it?!?! It's gone by so fast! But what a great trip!

So is that the room to the left of the stairs? If so, my old stomping grounds! At least she didn't have to sleep there with an accordian folding door and 70s carpet. :-)
