This man...

... is 33 today

...is not afraid to cheese it for the camera

... is happier, now that he doesn't have long call nights and crazy hours of residency (but still cute in his post-call scruff)

...is a good time!

...loves his boy

...has a unique sense of humor that is, I'll finally admit, endearing!

...was a good son

...is stinkin' smart & always makes me feel like all his accomplishments are "ours"

...loves his girls (& junk food)...is a hands on dad
...is a fun date!

...treats us with kindness and gentleness

...Isn't afraid of pink (which is one of the manliest traits I can think of!)

...is smokin' hot!

...is truly my best friend--supportive, helps me want to be better, and knows how important "girl time" is for me

...is a family man

...has a solid testimony of the Savior & honors his Priesthood

...is all mine!

Love you, Case!

Parenting Book...

This book was recommended by a great friend, who happens to be a terrific mom, a few months ago. I read it, and let me tell you--I'm a believer! I'm so on board with this book--great advice with some real tangible tactics that you can put right into practice.

Intrigued?!? Well, check it out from you local library to see if it would work for your family. Then buy it for yourself! The author suggests implementing some of this stuff at the beginning of the year, so there's plenty of time to figure out what will work for my family. I'm so glad M-A suggested this on her blog, and am just "paying forward" the favor to my friends and family....

Ty: "Mom, can you do me a favor..."

"Can you put this on your blog?"

Tyler's request as we posed for a quick picture before heading off to preschool on "Crazy Hair Day". Funnily enough, as I dropped him off and saw child after child going in with perfectly coiffed hair, I started to panic thinking we had fixed the funky 'do for the wrong day! Turned out that quite a few of the moms forgot about it...phewsh!

The cast & crew of Peter Pan...

Starring:
Ash as Wendy

Ty as Peter Pan
Tink as, well.... who else but Tinkerbelle!

Here's the crew...with Bree as a mermaid!

Best Costume 2008

I'll be posting the kiddos costumes for Halloween soon, but couldn't resist posting a photo of my FAVORITE costume so far this year. Truly, the only thing more awesome in this photo than the costume itself is my amazing brother -in-law that dons it.

Behold........

Please, please, please tell me you know who he is dressed up as! And yes, that IS his real hair.
B--you're the coolest...

Fall Fun

We've had some good times this fall that I wanted to remember, so here we go...

First stop, Gardner Village to see the witches. Holy Smokes it was
C R O W D E D!!!

The Parentals--aren't they cute? Two little empty-nester lovebirds...
Is my sis-in-law a beauty & niece adorable or what?!? Ty seems to think so!Bree fell asleep with her hands clasped together like she was saying a prayer.
Man, I'm head over heels for this little bubster!

Next stop: This is the Place!
Ash & Luke spent a week here during the summer and feel like they OWN the place. It's fun to have them show us around, since they ARE the experts, of course!

We realized that they'd be trick-or-treating at some of the homes, so had to grab the dress-up box and come up with some costumes. Let's just pretend that Ash's costume isn't 2 sizes too small, and Ty isn't wearing a pillowcase! Tink is a bundled up Sleeping Beauty and Bree...

Is a happy little cow. I said HAPPY! Doesn't she look like she's having the time of her life?
She's so nice to let us drag her everywhere!

Cute little corn maze...

Candy cannon that blasted taffy in the air. Some of them even got toasted by the heat of the cannon. Seriously, flaming taffy--what could be cooler as a kid?!?

Ty-guy on the pony. Is anyone else a little freaked out by the stink eye from that horse?

Tink, Ash, Bree & mom looking a little nerdy, but what-can-ya-do?

Truly a beautiful spot. The racecar driver, Wall-E, Tinkerbell, Sleeping Beauty & Luke Skywalker waiting to board the mini-train.

two cute engineers...

Most all of the crew on the tractor-hay ride!

Red Butte Garden is the next stop, and boy howdy was it worth it.
Look at these leaves!

And the cute grins on these faces!

Ash & the pips singing Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" karaoke style.
Ash did a great job, and the two words that the boys knew we're belted out in fine form!

Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Casey's aunt, that's who!

Millionaire is airing a Teacher's Week special, and his aunt will be on Wednesday & Thursday. She actually taped it a a couple of months ago and has had to keep quiet about how much she won (which would have been impossible for me!) She's on the promo, and we know she at least has gotten to the $50,000 question. Way to go Judy Kay! Totally awesome and more than deserving!

Show some love and support by tuning in! We'll have our pom poms out to cheer her on!!

qWeRcKs

Got tagged by Brooke, truly one of the most talented, inspiring, fun people I know. But seriously--I just had to come up with 101 randoms, so here's stretching it a little!

Definition of quirk: n. 1. A peculiarity of behavior; an idiosyncrasy: "Every man had his own quirks and twists" Harriet Beecher Stowe. 2. An unpredictable or unaccountable act or event; a vagary: a quirk of fate.
Rules: Link the Person who Tagged you. Mention rules on your blog. Tell about 6 quirks of yours. Tag 6 fellow bloggers to do the same. Leave a comment to let them know.

1. Let's talk food here folks. Wendy's Frosty's, shakes and shaved ice MUST ONLY be eaten with a plastic spoon. Truly ruins the taste to touch metal to these delicacies.

2. Speaking of food...If I am at a store and samples are being offered, my cart is sucked in like a tractor beam. It's so totally ridiculous how happy free samples (of any sort) make me. I get excited inside--tingly even--when I'm at Costco and realize that it's after 11 and the tables manned by cute little old people will be enticing me with their goods and wares. (And yes, that is a photo of samples of TOILET PAPER--I do have to draw the line somewhere. Seriously?!?)

3. Blogging (and really, just being able to write in my journal) let's me express the real me better than I can in person. Truly, I am not someone who can think quickly on her feet. If you ask me my childs name, I may give you the wrong child's name. Ask me their birthdate, and I'll confidently state July, when it's really September (and even have her birthday written on the calendar as the 26th when it's really the 27th--what kind of a mother does this?!?). Then I'll start thinking--gee, it seems like we just celebrated her birthday, and realize "Oh! Because we did just two weeks ago!"

My point is that the medium of writing has helped me realize who I really am when I have time to mull over things in my brain, to hash out how I really feel about motherhood on screen and humbly let others in to not only my day to day things, but my thoughts, convictions, religious beliefs & feelings. At times, I am more ME here than anywhere else. Quirky, no?

4. I can't resist kissing my kids like CRAZY. Seriously, this is a problem. I can't stop myself, and if I am being concious of it, I have to bite on the insides of my lips and clench my jaw. This has seemed to teach Ty & Tink, in particular, that personal space is non-existant. I am sorry, especially to their baby sister and cousins who seem to be the recipients of this "gift" I passed on to them...

5. I wish I could explain the feeling of how everything in the world is right when my dishwasher is running, clothes have been washed, folded and put away, & the trash has been collected by the garbage man. Freedom from the chores that chain me to the house! Okay, a little dramatic...

6. I kinda like the smell of magic markers, paint, & even gasoline. Truly explains a lot about me, I know!
(p.s. When I read this list to Casey, he remarked "Doesn't everybody love those smells?" That's my boy. But really--DOES everybody like it in a weird, quirky sort of way? Do tell...)

I tag YOU!
