The best kind of pet-ownership...

is babysitting (or chicken-sitting) for a weekend! The kids loved watching the Peterson's chicken a few weekends ago. Ash washed the cage each day and they all helped feed it and give it water and adored it. I think the Peterson's came home just about when the wonder of it all was wearing off, so I think 4 or so days is just the right amount of time to own a pet around our house! Thanks Peterson's!

Ash getting her nose pecked at!

And just because... this is a cute little mug and Tink is trying so hard to figure out how to be a big sister and loving her baby sis (maybe a little TOO much), and I need a reminder that she is still just as important and needing maybe a LOT more TLC since life is topsy-turvy for her right now. I love this little face!!!

I love that little pixie, too! Give her an extra big hug for me when you don't think she deserves it, but needs it all the same!

Oh I was just wondering how Tink was doing in the adjustment from youngest to not youngest. I left my dr. appt. yesterday and there was a little girl about Joseph's age who was with her daddy who was leaving and kept pointing back to the building, saying, "mama? mama?" I cried. It sure does change everything in their little worlds doesn't it?

I am all about loaner pets!! I think it's kind of like being a grandparent. Except maybe a little less involved. And hopefully grandparents don't keep the kids in a cage. But, they DO get to send the kids home when they are ready for a break, right?!

Hope the new baby is doing well. That last picture is adorable!

Such a cute little face you have there. I hope she's adjusting well!

I would loved to have seen Casey's face when he walked into the house and saw a chicken on his kitchen table. Classic.

I am looking forward to the day when I have can some chickens of my own! (seriously)

Kristi--
Best comment, EVER. You know him too well!! Kind of a bummer for Ashlyn that she is a HUGE, AVID animal lover, which is why pet-sitting works out for all!

Steve can come visit anytime. I think she is looking for a perk to lay some eggs, what a good little chick growing up too fast.
