At President Hinckley's passing, I've been reflecting on the lasting impact that he's made. I realize that he's made an indelible imprint on society as a whole through his messages and example of kindness, acceptance and inclusiveness; as well as for the Latter-Day Saints from accessibility of temples, the Conference Center, programs like the Perpetual Education Fund and great messages from the "6 Be's", "The Living Christ", and The Family Proclamation amongst a miriad of other significant accomplishments as our prophet.I know it's a selfish slant, but mostly I've reflected on how President Hinckley has deeply affected me and my life. His words of encouragement, to stand a little taller and be a little better have always been delivered with such a strong spirit that I can't help but WANT to try to live my life more in accordance with the Savior's teachings.
Watching how he & his wife lived their lives--hard-working, always positive with a sense of humor, seeking to live by the spirit, being a good neighbor, serving all those around them, a willingness to be an avid learner--have taught me more of how to pattern my life than any amount of sermons preached over the pulpit. His passing reminds me to recommit to these values and way of life, as this is the best way I can personally honor him.

I think that is what made President Hinckley so wonderful... that he did affect so many of us personally. From those that knew him on a personal level, to those that only shook his hand, to those who simply heard his words. He touched so many. When he spoke, his words were for me.. for each of us in such unique ways.
I'm with you. I WANT to live it too.
Amen. What an awesome man.
